Lord’s Table – Remembering Christ’s Sacrifice

1 Corinthians 10:15-22;11:23-34
Today we will be having what we call the Lord’s Table.
Some call it the Lord’s Supper or some communion.
It is something that the Lord Jesus himself began and it was something that he instructed those in His Church to continue doing until He comes again.

The Lord’s Table is a time of:

  • Remembrance – It is a memorial of Christ has done for us. (Lk 22:19, 1 Cor 11:25)
  • Proclamation – By this ordinance we proclaim the Gospel and Christ’s future return. (1 Cor 11:26)
  • Fellowship – Communion. In fellowship with one another and in fellowship with God. (1 Cor 10:16,17)
  • Thanksgiving – A cup of blessing (1 Cor 10:16). A time in which we give thanks for Christ’s paying the penalty of death for our sins.
  • Examination – It is a time of self-examination, to examine our lives for sin which hinders our relationship with Christ and brings chastisement (1 Cor 11:20-22,27-34)
